Worked example: Stargate and the 100,000 jobs

On 21 January 2025 the president announced a new company, a $500 billion investment and 'over 100,000 American jobs almost immediately'. The words are documented twice, and the claim is one of the clearest in the ledger.

It is also an example of a claim that resists grading for a structural reason: no published series isolates employment attributable to that project, so any verdict would be a verdict about the whole labour market.

“Together, these world-leading technology giants are announcing the formation of Stargate. So put that name down in your books, because I think you're going to hear a lot about it in the future—a new American company that will invest $500 billion at least in AI infrastructure in the United States and move—and very, very quickly, moving very rapidly, creating over 100,000 American jobs almost immediately.”

The honest verdictOpen. Not because the claim is vague, but because the metric it names has no separate measurement. The ledger records that and waits.
